What is a cue-bid?  In this three-part, six hour, online course, participants will explore the key aspects of cue-bidding.  We will examine the cue-bids most commonly used by players at the Intermediate and Advanced Levels.

​

If you are considering this course you should be comfortable playing duplicate bridge in Open Games, and have taken an equivalent course to the ‘Advancing Your Game’ course offered at the London Bridge Club.

​

For those wanting a hands-on Practice and Play component there will be two sessions (each two hours long) following the course.  The Practice and Play sessions are ONLY for people who have completed the three online lessons. 

 

The 3 week course will be taught online using the Zoom platform. The instructor will email to each participant the Zoom link for the lessons to be held Tuesdays on January 18, January 25, and February 1, 2022 from 1:30 to 3:40.

For those players who are interested, private Practice & Play sessions will be offered during the weeks of February 7 to 10 and February 14 to 18, 2022.

Advancing Your Game - Part 2

​

This online 4-week bridge course, taught by Mary Howe, is a continuation for players who have completed the first four weeks of Part 1 of Advancing Your Game. A variety of standard conventions will be introduced and fine-tuned. Each class will include strategies for handling the opponents’ interference. The use of good judgement will be emphasized.

​

The 4 week course will be taught online over four weeks using the Zoom platform during February 2022 (Feb. 1, 8, 15 and 22 ) on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 – 4:15   Please note that Part 1 is a prerequisite for Part 2.

​

The cost for the 4 week course is $50 plus $10 for the Student Handbook. Register for Part 2 online at the London Bridge Center website.

For those players who are interested, private Practice & Play sessions will be offered during March and April after the completion of Advancing Your Game Part 2 for players who have taken the course.  Four hands-on play sessions using pre-set hands will target the topics covered in each of the lessons. Registration for these play sessions will be done during the February course.

Bridge Basics I 

Bridge Basics I is a general introduction to the game of bridge that includes basic terminology, bidding, and card play. This course is designed for individuals with no bridge experience or for those who are returning to bridge after an extended absence from the game.

​

Course Topics: Hand evaluation, the bidding ladder, no-trump opening bids and basic responses, minor suit opening bids and basic responses, major suit opening bids and basic responses. Hand play and defense will be included in each class. 

​

Bridge Basics I  is being offered online by Hazel Hewitt. It will consist of 10 online lessons, two online playing sessions with a mentor and two sessions at the Club when it opens.  Lessons are in groups of 4 and friends can sign up together.  These lessons are for small groups - in essence private lessons.  The start date and times will be established by the participants.
